Teamwork in Action: Clearing the Manure Area
What a cracking morning we had last weekend! A big thank you to all the plot holders who turned up to help clear the manure area ahead of our next delivery from the local farmer.
Armed with loppers, spades and a good dose of determination, we tackled the brambles, grass and rubbish that had built up over the last 12 months. We even uncovered the original car park footings, thanks to John — finally working out where the car park actually starts and ends! With the ground cleared, we laid the sheeting ready for the load of manure to arrive from the local farmer.
A special shout-out goes to Gail, who was the driving force behind the whole effort. She organised the dates, liaised with the farmer, and somehow managed to keep everyone busy — even when we ran out of jobs, she created new ones! By the late morning, she had Dan starting on clearing the wood chip area ready for the next working party.
It was a great day of teamwork, laughter, and genuine progress. Gail was still going strong into the early evening — proof that community spirit can fuel just about anything.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along — we really do work well as a team.
We’ll be keeping the manure on the usual honesty system — £1.50 a barrowload, payable to the Society by BACS or in cash. Another delivery is due on Sunday 9th November, so please hold off taking any until it’s all been dropped off and we’ve had chance to make the area safe and compliant.
